Tamara Brown, the dedicated maker behind At the Root, joined the Akin community earlier in 2025 and shared her collection of natural skincare and hair care in the shop. A nurse and military retiree, Tamara has always been driven by a calling to help and nurture others, a mission she now extends through her brand.
At The Root was born from a deeply personal desire for healthier solutions. When Tamara's daughter experienced skin conditions, she sought an alternative to the "fake, harmful ingredients" prevalent in many commercial products. This quest for natural efficacy led her to create her own product, and "once I made a product that helped her, I never looked back."
The brand name itself reflects this philosophy: "I wanted to express discovering the root causes of skin and hair concerns and finding natural ways to address them."
At The Root's mission is clear: to promote wellness with simple yet effective products and empower individuals to get back to natural ingredients without compromising on quality.
