Some artists remind us that life doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. That’s exactly what Lucy Lawrence (she/they) does with their brand Very Usual — a wearable art clothing line born from quirky drawings, humor, and a love for looking at the world a little differently.
When people ask Lucy where she comes up with her drawings, she describes them as “super normal.” That phrase stuck — and Very Usual became the brand’s name. But don’t let the name fool you — there’s nothing ordinary about Very Usual. Their work celebrates the funny, the bizarre, and the unexpected, with the mission of creating wearable and visible art that brings a smile to your face every day.
Very Usual began during a time when Lucy was in bed a lot and started sharing her playful drawings online. To their surprise, it resonated — people found joy in the drawings, and Lucy realized they had stumbled into something worth sharing. Today, it has grown into a wearable art brand that encourages us all to embrace the offbeat and find humor in the everyday.
Beyond the art, Lucy also shares a message that resonates with makers, dreamers, and anyone chasing something new: if there’s something you want to do, just do it — even if it’s a little silly goose energy.
Lucy is a classically trained artist, born and raised in Los Angeles, whose creativity stretches beyond the page into music, playing bass with their band Dear Boy and practicing her Lasso tricks. At the core of it all is a love for creating things that connect people, whether through laughter, music, or art.
